Christmas Rush

Twas the week before Christmas break and all through Pacific Woods Lodge everyone was busy getting papers done before they went home for Christmas break. It's going to be hard leaving everyone for almost 3 weeks. It's also going to be hard leaving our church, as I am growing more and more attached to it and it's people. On Monday and Tuesday we as a Kaleo group (minus the concert-goers) were able to bless a couple from our church by helping them move. Their house got flooded and Justine (the wife) broke her arm, so it was a very stressful time for them. It was awesome being able to come to their rescue and bless them and pray for them. Monday we got the Kaleo Christmas tree. It's starting to feel like Christmas, especially with all the snow we've been getting lately. Thursday was the youth leaders' meeting; everything went great. Friday was youth - The Hunger - Which was pretty sweet. I love seeing the youth pumped about praising God. It was awesome getting to chill with them. I'm starting to see some relationships being formed, and getting to know some of the youth a bit better, especially the grade seven boys. I'm leaving for home this week, pray that I wouldn't miss everyone back here too much. Merry Christmas!

Two Weeks Later

Time to catch up since before reading break. Reading break was a blast. We, being Jon, Scott, Rob and I, went to Scott's house out near Abbotsford. Shopping, movies, sightseeing, minigolfing, lots of sports highlights, we did it all. On Thursday instead of heading back to the Island, I flew back to Steinbach for my Grandpa's funeral. It was probably the most stressful week of my life, having to balance two papers for school, making a slideshow for the funeral, and seeing as many friends as I could fit in. I flew back on the next Friday and caught youth at New Life. We made a whole bunch of Christmas crafts like candles and wooden ornaments. It was a more laid-back event, I didn't catch the 5 minute devo because I was helping set up, so it felt like there was no spiritual aspect to that night. It was fun making crafts will all the youth and basically just hanging out. It kind of does frusturate me that they think youth has to be fun and not spiritual. It squeaks by having a little "God time" in the beginning or the end, but the youth listen so intently it seems that they take so much to heart it could be done more. The Hunger is excellent, which is coming up this Friday. I can't wait to see how the youth respond spiritually; the last Hunger was incredible in that way. I'll tell you about next week! Ciao!
